Project Overview

We are looking for a website designer to create high-fidelity designs for a new page of our website featuring mental health resources for Black youth.

We are a Brooklyn-based nonprofit specializing in the mental health and success of young men of color from our city's most marginalized backgrounds. We offer a range of programs and services in Brooklyn and run a transformational community center in the heart of Bed Stuy. Our next horizon is to expand our digital footprint to include a digital wellness space attuned to young men of color, and the broader wellness provider community. There are currently few offerings of this kind available, yet the need pressing, with suicide rates for Black youth being one of the fastest rising in the US.

This digital BroWellness webpage would offer written content, videos and audio, guides and resources, and interactive features to help young men of color access the information, resources, and community they need to thrive and succeed in the midst of our youth mental health crisis.

This project will NOT include the following:
-Stakeholder interviews
-Copywriting
-Key message development
-Implementing the web designs (i.e. web development)Join us in creating one of the only digital resources dedicated to the mental wellness and thriving of boys and young men of color. We are The B.R.O. Experience and we stand for Brothers Redefining Opportunity. Our Brooklyn-based nonprofit serves over 300 youth each year with direct services across a range of innovative and culturally-attuned program areas. We meet young men of color where they are and work with them to build Authenticity, Bravery, and Connection from the inside out.

Our vision for a digital BRO Space has been brewing for years and we're ready to take the next step. This resources will allow us to reach beyond Brooklyn to a national and international community of Black and brown youth who are suffering from unprecedented challenges of mental health. We have the culture, we have the vision, we do the work, and we're ready to share this healing across the web. Real lives are depending on it. We have an existing brand and an active website (thebroexperience.org) run on Squarespace. We regularly create original content: written, photo, and video and we're ready to scale this media to a more dynamic digital platform. We are also excited to write for grants to help support this digital initiative when we can show a working proof of concept. Join us in lighting the fire.
