Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is an important opportunity to reflect on the legacy of one of our country’s most important activists and community builders. With more than a half-century since his death, we have undoubtedly made some progress toward the world that Dr. King dreamed of. However, urgent racial and economic justice needs continue to exist, keeping us from achieving true equity. In short, there is more work to do.

Every day is a good day to give back as a skilled volunteer, but Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a particularly appropriate opportunity to begin exploring organizations in need of your expertise. There are many project requests available now on Taproot Plus that speak to issues Dr. King campaigned for, including civil and human rights; diversity, equity, and inclusion; supporting the Black community; economic empowerment; and more.
