On the occasion of our 25th Anniversary (!!) the Cool Culture team is seeking one or more volunteers who are passionate about our mission to help us edit video from a panel discussion focused on harnessing arts and culture to build civic engagement among families of color and families with low income.

Specifically, you will review the panel discussion, with the goal of creating 1 - 2 short videos that highlight how the arts support and invite civic participation, Cool Culture's role in the context of our We Are A Work of Art: Health + Wellbeing Initiative which seeks to cultivate health of mind, body, spirit and civic engagement + the role of our partnership with the People's Bus.

You're a great fit for us if you have a background in video editing, and you can spend 6 - 8 hours over two weeks on this project - or are open to working with another volunteer to achieve these outcomes.

For almost 25 years, we've served as New York's Best Kept Secret. But too often, the lack of visibility for small, BIPOC-led community organizations like ours, leads to severe underfunding. As we celebrate our 25th Anniversary we want to step out of the shadows, launching into the next phase of our vision, and call on the community to support our critical work. To do so, we need the support of experienced videographer to bring visibility to our work!

I will work with the volunteer them to orient them to the project and Cool Culture's organizational goals. We also have in hand a new Narrative Strategy - messaging and digital collateral .

Cool Culture envisions an equitable society that values, embraces and is enriched by all cultures. We are a nonprofit social justice organization led by and for people of color that for almost 25 years has brought together families, artists, cultural institutions, educators, and the wider New York City community acrossrace and class divides. Our intiatives co-create more equitable access to culture, support family and community wellbeing and inspire social change. Across NYC each year we offer 50,000 families free access to our partner cultural institutions, multilingual programs and resources; support 1,000+ educators to use the arts to foster children's love of learning, and build family engagement; and support museum staff to make a difference in their communities. In our Neighborhood-based initiatives families tour cultural centers, critique exhibits, create art and share stories. Families make more than 185,000 visits to partner museums annually; and engage in increased cultural participation in their communities and homes.
