Wix Website Design
Canary.ngo has just recently been established and granted its 501(c)(3) status. We’ve worked with a branding agency to establish our communication guidelines and visual identity, and we’re now ready to design and launch our website. While an existing product, Spotlight (spotlight.ngo), already has a standalone site, this new website will represent the parent nonprofit and establish Canary’s independent identity, mission, and programs.
We’re seeking a skilled volunteer to help us design and build a simple but professional website using a user-friendly CMS (ideally Wix since that's the platform spotlight.ngo was built on). The project will include translating our brand assets into a clean and engaging design, building out 4–5 core pages (e.g., Home, The Issue, Our Work, About Use, The Impact, Our Work, Blog), and ensuring the site is accessible, responsive, and easy to maintain.
We’d also welcome guidance on best practices for structuring nonprofit websites, incorporating basic SEO, and preparing for future additions like donation functionality and newsletter integration. We’re a small and nimble team, so we’re excited to collaborate closely and move efficiently toward a public launch.
This website will be the public face of Canary, our first opportunity to introduce ourselves as a newly established nonprofit committed to preventing child sexual exploitation. While our flagship tool, Spotlight, is already in use, the Canary website will help us broaden awareness of our mission, build credibility with funders and partners, and expand our impact.
By creating a clear, accessible, and engaging website, you’ll be helping us reach new supporters, attract strategic collaborators, and share the real-world impact of our work. This project will lay the digital foundation we need to grow as an organization and amplify our commitment to protecting vulnerable children. Your time and expertise will directly support a mission that saves lives.
We’re well-positioned to set this project up for success. Canary has recently completed a full brand development process with a professional agency, so we’ll be able to provide clear brand guidelines, logos, color palettes, typography, and messaging assets to support the design and content. We also plan to repurpose select copy and structure from our existing product website, Spotlight.ngo, which gives us a strong starting point for writing and content planning.
Internally, we have full buy-in from our leadership team and are ready to collaborate closely to move the project forward. We’ve aligned on the goals, tone, and audience for the website, and have designated a point person who can provide timely feedback and approvals to keep things moving.
Once launched, the site will serve as a foundational asset for our communications, fundraising, and partnership development. We’re excited to implement the final product immediately and will maintain the site internally, so we’re also eager to learn from the volunteer throughout the process to ensure long-term sustainability.
