About the Opportunity

We're looking for a marketing-savvy volunteer to help Noggin sharpen our brand voice and build out a stronger content/communications rhythm across our channels (social media, email newsletters, and our website). Specifically, we'd love support with:

-Brand strategy & messaging: Helping us articulate a consistent, compelling way to talk about our programs (academic tutoring, Robotics Camp, and other enrichment offerings) to different audiences — parents, donors, corporate sponsors, and the community at large.
-Content planning: Building out a simple content calendar or framework so our social media and email communications feel intentional rather than reactive, especially around key moments like camp weeks, fundraising campaigns, and board/donor events.
-Content creation support: Reviewing or helping draft social posts, donor-facing recap content, and volunteer/sponsor thank-you messaging — we have real material (photos, stories, program outcomes) but could use a sharper eye for how to present it.

We're a small, hands-on team, so this is a great fit for someone who likes seeing their strategic thinking turn into something usable almost immediately — not a project that sits in a deck. We anticipate this being roughly 2-5 hours a week over a few weeks, and we're flexible on whether that's one deeper strategy session plus lighter weekly touchpoints, or a steadier weekly cadence — happy to shape the format around what works for the volunteer's schedule.

Noggin's mission is to break down the barriers that keep underserved students from academic and enrichment opportunities — whether that's free tutoring or hands-on programs like our Robotics Camp, which brings STEM learning to kids who qualify for Medicaid/CHIP right alongside paying families. But a mission only reaches as far as people know about it. Strong, consistent marketing is what turns a great program into full enrollment, a compelling story into a new donor, and a single camp week into a sponsor relationship that lasts for years.

Right now, our small team is doing this work reactively — posting when there's time, rather than strategically. A skilled marketing volunteer helping us build real brand messaging and a content rhythm means more families discover programs their kids qualify for, more donors and corporate partners understand the tangible impact of their support (like seeing a Shark Tank Jr. presentation or a volunteer day), and more of our story reaches the people who could become our next champions.

In short: your strategic thinking helps make sure the students we're already serving don't stay a well-kept secret — and that the next round of kids, donors, and volunteers actually finds their way to us.

Materials ready to go: We have existing photos, program recaps, donor communications, and past social content the volunteer can pull from immediately rather than starting from a blank page.
Internal buy-in secured: Our Executive Director is directly involved in and has approved this project, and will be the primary point of contact for questions, approvals, and feedback — so the volunteer won't be stuck waiting on decisions.
Clear point of contact: A single team member (our Chief of Staff) will coordinate scheduling, gather what's needed, and keep communication responsive throughout the engagement.
Realistic scope: We've scoped this specifically to fit a 2-5 hour/week, limited-weeks engagement — we're not expecting a full rebrand, just focused, usable deliverables (a messaging framework, a content calendar, or a handful of polished posts) that our small team can put into practice right away.
Built to last beyond the project: Whatever the volunteer creates — templates, a content calendar, messaging guidelines — will become a living resource for our team to keep using after the engagement ends, not a one-off deliverable that sits unused.
