About the Opportunity

American Music Institute (AMI) is seeking pro bono SEO expertise to strengthen the visibility and discoverability of its website in search engines and help more families, students, musicians, and community partners find our programs online.

AMI offers music education and enrichment programs for students of all ages and levels, including private music lessons, group programs, youth orchestra opportunities, summer camps, competitions, and community programs. As more people use Google and other search engines to find music education opportunities, strong organic search visibility is increasingly important to reaching the audiences we serve.

Our main challenge is that AMI has valuable programs and content, but our website is not consistently performing as strongly as it could in organic search. We need to identify and address technical SEO issues, improve on-page optimization, strengthen our content strategy, and ensure that our most important programs and locations are easy for search engines and potential students to find.

We have worked on SEO internally, including updating website content, using Yoast SEO, reviewing Google Search Console and Google Analytics data, and making improvements to individual pages. However, we have not yet completed a comprehensive SEO strategy that brings together technical SEO, on-page SEO, content optimization, local SEO, site structure, keyword strategy, and performance measurement.

We have also experienced technical and indexing challenges, including pages that are crawled but not indexed, inconsistent search visibility, sitemap and indexing concerns, and historical issues with spam URLs appearing in Search Console. These issues make it difficult to understand the website's true search performance and ensure that the right AMI pages appear for relevant searches.

We are looking for an SEO volunteer who can conduct a comprehensive audit, identify the highest-priority opportunities, and provide a practical optimization roadmap.

By the end of the project, AMI would like to have a comprehensive SEO audit and practical optimization roadmap that identifies the most important opportunities and provides clear, actionable recommendations our team can implement.

The pro bono consultant will create:
SEO Audit: Review technical SEO, on-page SEO, content, local SEO, site structure, indexing, metadata, internal linking, and search visibility.
Keyword Strategy: Identify relevant search terms for AMI’s audiences, programs, instruments, services, and geographic locations.
Technical SEO Recommendations: Address crawling, indexing, sitemap configuration, canonical URLs, broken links, site structure, and other technical issues.
On-Page SEO Recommendations: Provide recommendations for priority pages, including titles, meta descriptions, headings, content structure, keywords, images, and internal linking.
Content Strategy: Identify opportunities to improve existing content and develop new SEO-focused pages and resources.
Local SEO Recommendations: Improve AMI’s visibility for local searches related to music lessons and music education in the communities it serves.
Prioritized Action Plan: Organize recommendations by priority and level of effort so AMI knows what to address first.
Measurement Plan: Recommend key SEO metrics and Google tools to monitor progress.
What Success Looks Like

Success would mean AMI has a clear understanding of its current SEO performance, the issues affecting search visibility, and a prioritized plan for improvement. The completed project should provide a practical, sustainable SEO roadmap that AMI can continue implementing after the project ends.

Ultimately, the goal is to improve organic search visibility, indexing, qualified website traffic, and the discoverability of AMI’s programs and services, making it easier for prospective students and families to find and connect with American Music Institute online.
