Greenwich House needs technical volunteer support to complete and launch a centralized volunteer management ecosystem using Microsoft for Nonprofits, including Power Apps, SharePoint, Dataverse, and Power Automate. The core need is a Power Platform Developer / Maker who can build and enhance the volunteer management application, volunteer portal, and business workflows. The developer will review the current setup; configure portal screens, forms, dashboards, and navigation; design volunteer-facing journeys for browsing opportunities, registering, applying, and onboarding; and create business logic, validation rules, and conditional workflows. Progress is being slowed because the system is not yet fully configured for multiple staff users, program directors, and volunteers across the full volunteer lifecycle.
We began the build internally and identified the Microsoft tools that can support the process. Volunteers have already signed on as SharePoint / Data Architect and Quality Assurance (QA) Tester. The lead developer will coordinate these contributions; connect Power Apps to SharePoint Lists, Dataverse tables, and Microsoft for Nonprofits components; create or refine Power Automate flows for applications, approvals, onboarding, assignments, reminders, and status updates; confirm security roles; troubleshoot app, workflow, and integration issues; demonstrate the solution; incorporate stakeholder feedback; and prepare the connected system for testing and launch. Staff need one reliable system for applications, onboarding, opportunities, assignments, communications, approvals, and participation tracking rather than disconnected spreadsheets, manual follow-up, or dependence on one individual’s Microsoft profile.
The pro bono consultant will deliver a working volunteer management ecosystem using Power Apps, SharePoint, Dataverse, Power Automate, and Microsoft for Nonprofits. Working with the SharePoint / Data Architect and QA Tester, the consultant will configure portal screens, forms, dashboards, navigation, data connections, permissions, business logic, validation rules, and conditional workflows. They will design the volunteer experience for opportunity browsing, registration, application submission, and onboarding, and build flows for applications, approvals, onboarding activities, assignments, reminders, and status updates.
Deliverables may include a discovery summary, volunteer journey map, documented data model, permissions recommendations, updated Power Apps and portal experiences, connected SharePoint Lists and Dataverse tables, tested Power Automate flows, issue and QA logs, stakeholder demonstrations, a launch checklist, and simple staff training materials. The consultant will troubleshoot application, workflow, and integration issues and incorporate stakeholder feedback. Ideal skills include Power Apps, Power Automate, low-code/no-code development, user experience design, workflow automation, and basic data modeling.
Success means staff can manage applications, onboarding, opportunities, assignments, communications, approvals, and participation in one reliable system; program directors can securely access information relevant to their sites or projects; and volunteers receive clear next steps and timely messages. Greenwich House will have a tested, documented, launch-ready solution with sound data architecture, secure access, validated workflows, resolved priority issues, and less reliance on manual tracking or one individual’s Microsoft profile.
