Social Issue Spotlight Panel: Environment
October 30, 2023
We’ve reached an inflection point in human history where our relationship with nature and the environment must change for the well-being of future generations. There is also a growing recognition that climate change doesn’t impact populations equally and that historically marginalized people are more at risk from environmental shifts. It’s critical that we understand the increasing environmental challenges affecting communities across the United States and globally—and how we can each take action to support nonprofits working towards solutions.
Taproot hosted a panel of nonprofit leaders on Monday, October 23 for an open conversation that spotlighted:
- Pressing environmental challenges that these nonprofits are addressing
- Community-driven solutions that nonprofits are implementing
- The support these organizations need—right now—from skills-based volunteers
Panelists:
- Matt Tucker, Climate Action Guide, based in Truckee, CA
- Courtney Brady, The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center, based in New York City
- John Henderson, Green Spaces for DC, based in Washington, DC
